Bought 6 of the CVD diamond face-milling cutters for our LED heat-sink production. Edge life compared to our old carbide was ~6x longer. We are finishing at SMD-level tolerances (plus-minus 0.005 mm) in copper heat-spreaders. The mirror finish is so good we can sometimes skip the buffing step. Highly recommended if you are machining high-end copper or aluminum optics. Price is steep but the per-part cost is way lower once you factor in tool life.
Diamond-grade precision lathe tool. Light-guide plate polishing tool. Optical-grade surface finish. Took some setup time to figure out the right approach but once tuned, the results are unmatched. Mirror finish, no chatter, repeatable. The seller provides detailed specs and even suggested feeds/speeds. Definitely premium but also definitely worth it. 5 stars all day.
Single-crystal diamond lathe tool for copper and aluminum reflectors. We had a critical job at 0.5 nm Ra spec that was bombing with conventional PCD, and the MCD cleared it on the second part. Took some dial-in to get the geometry right for our specific part (sharp edge vs. honed edge), but once sorted, batch-to-batch consistency was excellent. Would buy again for high-end optics work.
We machine sapphire substrate carriers and these single-crystal diamond tools were the only ones that gave us chip-free edges. Sharp as a razor out of the box, holds edge on D2 tool steel at HRC62 (yes, that is not its intended material — but it was available to test). Properly sintered, properly balanced. Communication was great, came with proper edge-inspection paperwork.
MCD single-crystal diamond is a different animal — yes, premium price, but for face-machining optical-grade surfaces, nothing else compares. We use these on aluminum light-guide plates and the Ra finish we get is consistently 8-12 nm mirror finish in one pass. The seller did a video demo of the edge under microscope before shipping — nice touch. Edge is sharp enough to slice paper. For pure finish-machining optics, this is the right tool.
